Triangle Elementary is a Title I school which means we have funding for 2 full time and 1 part time reading teachers to help all the children in our school. We work with the classroom teachers, small groups of children, and also give some one on one support to first graders with Reading Recovery.
We want children to be successful and love reading! Please contact us with any questions you might have about our program and how to help your children.

Class Announcements Daily Independent ReadingHow do you become a better reader? Practice, practice, practice. Children need to read every day from easy books that allow them to practice fluency with repeated exposure to high frequency words. Research has shown that the most gains from independent practice comes from books that children can read with 98-99% accuracy. This means there should be no more than 1-2 tricky words on a page.
At school your child has a chance to practice during the day. This opportunity is called Read to Self or Independent Reading. They also need to read for 20-30 minutes at home each night too.
